Comedy Road Trip

Okay, when it really comes down to it, very little about the title is accurate.  It's thirteen tracks consisting of around 47 jokes recorded in dozens of cities... but who's counting? The original concept was that an album recorded on one night, in one location, is not an accurate representation of what a life in comedy is like.  It's so many shows in so many cities, big rooms and small rooms, great audiences and some questionable ones.  I decided that I would take my recording gear with me everywhere I went and record each show.  Every night, I was hoping to catch a specific part of the album.  Some nights I succeeded, some nights I didn't.  I kept recording until, like a big jigsaw puzzle, all of the little pieces finally fit together the way I wanted.

The venues on the album range from 2000 seat theaters, all the way down to a small coffee shop in Charlottesville, VA.  The upside to recording this way is that I feel like I managed to capture a little of the variety that comedians are so accustomed to.  The downside is that jokes naturally tend to evolve and change.  They grow, shrink, and hopefully become better.  Inevitably, every time I thought that one of the tracks was perfect, I'd listen a few months later, and the joke had indeed changed.  So, I would record again, and sometimes again and again and again.  It's been a project two years in the making.  I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed making it.
